Lance Jones began his musical career in Clearfield County. As a 2005 graduate of West Branch Area School District, his primary instructors were Mrs. Cindy Penvose and Mr. William Gabel. Lance went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania where he was named Presser Scholar. Lance studied percussion under Mr. Brian Rowan and Dr. Lawrence Wells. He also holds a M.M. in Wind Conducting from Messiah College where he studied with Brad Genevro, William Stowman, and clinician Eugene Corporon.
Mr. Jones is a music director at West Branch Area School District and previously served as the director of bands at Northern Cambria School District from 2010-2019.
Ensembles under Mr. Jones’s direction have been recognized nationally by the NAMM Foundation and have performed at the Magic Kingdom-Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL; as well as Gettysburg, PA and the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, PA. His students have had the experience of performing alongside the Messiah College Symphonic Band and have engaged in workshops and commissioned pieces with renowned educators/composers, such as: Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Samuel Hazo, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Robert Sheldon, Travis Weller, and the late Dr. Jon R. Woods.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Jones is a member of PMEA and has served as the District 6 Professional Development Chair. He is also an active clinician, conductor, and has contributed articles to PMEA and The Instrumentalist.
Lance resides in Morrisdale, PA with his wife Carrie, and their sons, Lincoln and Benjamin.
