I have been busy recently organizing thoughts (difficult, even on a good day) and experiences to share with others. I do not claim to be an expert on any given topic or concept. Like many of us, I am simply a music educator in a small town & If I can help anyone by sharing my failures and other near-victories, I am happy to do so! This wellness clinic is an approach for educators to implement in daily life; focusing on work/life balance, teaching with passion, & being the best person for your students, your craft, and yourself. This clinic consists of strategies, exercises, and resources to be used to rewire how we see, think about, and approach our profession. This clinic was most recently presented at both the 2017 PMEA spring &summer state in-services. Now this is the story--- queue "Fresh Prince" theme....
that I have been asked to share on several occasions. It is about inheriting a dilapidated program & confronting the overwhelming lack of awareness & support in the school district. Those of us who have weathered these conditions have asked: -How do I build community through music? -How do I create a curriculum for success & artistry in this environment? -How do I bring this program safely to shore without drowning myself? This clinic addresses these questions and aims to give participants resources to overcome and adapt for a thriving program AND teacher!
